If you try to create a package in Adobe InDesign using the same path as the document’s parent folder, you will delete any graphics or other files that may be in the folder. For example, a document named “myDoc.indd” is in a folder called “myDoc folder” on your Desktop. If you open that file and choose File > Package, choosing to package to the desktop using a folder name “myDoc folder” will prompt the user with, “‘myDoc folder’ already exists. Do you want to replace it?” The options are Cancel or Replace. Choosing Replace causes InDesign to result in an error, “Cannot copy publication.” The resulting folder contains only the “myDoc.indd” file and its lock file. Other files that were in that folder are deleted. This can affect any version of InDesign.
